Ed Dale Ed Rufus Dale, 78, of Hickory, went home to be with his Lord Feb. 13, 2020. Born in Marion, he was the son of the late Clark and Irene Dale. Ed grew up in Spruce Pine and attended Harris High School. He married the love of his life, Ernestine, in 1961.

Georgia Sue Phillips, 84, of Sherrill’s Ford, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020. She was born June 2, 1935, to Clarence and Pearl Gouge Greene. Georgia attended Bowman High School in Bakersville. It was there she met her husband, Ken.

Wilma Burleson Beam, 82, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 24, 1937, in the Hawk Valley Community of Mitchell County to Annie Ollis and Connie Burleson. Wilma was wed to Parker Charles Beam in 1956 until his death in 1994.

Bruce Ray Silver, 63, of Daytona Beach, Florida, died Dec. 31, 2019.  He was born Sept. 28, 1956, in Spruce Pine, the son of Robert and Maude Silver.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Silver; and sisters, Ethel Crew and Cora Evelyn Silver.

Robert L. Milton, 68, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, after a lengthy battle with COPD. The youngest of three born to Lawrence E. and Helen Milton, he was a resident for more than 30 years of the Jacks Creek Community in Green Mountain.

Kameron Wayne Wilson, 20, of the Penland Community, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of David Randal and Ann Davis Wilson, of Penland.

Robert Thomas Staubitz, 85, of Bakersville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. He was a native of Sykesville, Maryland, and the son of the late Wilson and Dorothy Redmond Staubitz.
