Kameron Wayne Wilson, 20, of the Penland Community, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of David Randal and Ann Davis Wilson, of Penland. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Madge Wilson. Kameron was quick-witted, loved to make people laugh and was always “the life of the party.” He loved kids, his brothers and playing with his nephews.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, is his wife, Kriston Tainio; son, Braylan Wilson; maternal grandparents, Cleo and Rebecca Davis, of Penland; brothers, Kaelen Wilson, and wife, Shannah, of Bakersville, and Kurtis Wilson, of Penland; nephews, Anthony and Theodore Wilson, of Bakersville; aunt, Jennifer Duckett, of Rutherfordton; cousins, Joni Duckett, of Spruce Pine, and Jacob Duckett, of Texas; and a great-uncle, Cecil Burleson, of Penland. Several other extended family members also survive.  

Funeral services were 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. before the services at the funeral home. Pastor Lance Riddle officiated. Graveside services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the Big Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery on Rabbit Hop Road. At all other times the family met at the home of his brother at 92 Upper Dale Hill Road in Bakersville.
