Augusta Gray Augusta May Jayne Carrell Gray, 95, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at Taylor Manor Nursing Home in Versailles, Kentucky. Born Oct. 14, 1924, in Nokomis, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Augusta Roman and Jesse Addison Jayne.

Richard Eng, 74, of Spruce Pine, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center after an admirable battle with cancer due to Agent Orange. A native of Poughkeepsie, New York, he was a son of the late Larry and Helen Eng.

Phyllis Dale, 92, of Oakdale Avenue in Spruce Pine, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at Care Partners in Asheville. Born March 17, 1927, in Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Nina Brian and Emory Clement Carter.

Betty McKinney

Betty McKinney Betty H. McKinney, 88, formerly of Hillcrest Circle in Spruce Pine, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. Born Sept. 17, 1931, in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Johnson Howell and Pansey Ethel Burnette Howell.

Orlie Rathbone

Orlie Rathbone Orlie James Rathbone, 92, of Cane Creek Road, Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019. He was a native of Mitchell County and a son of the late George and Bessie McKinney Rathbone.
