TONIA HALE: Excited to serve hospital, community

I’m delighted to be here at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital and to get to know our committed teams across every department and this community. I arrived at BRRH on Dec. 16, and it has been a whirlwind of learning and orientation, but a very positive experience.

How will dying honeybees affect my life?

Most people when asked, “How does the honeybee help us?” will respond, positively, “They make honey for us” or negatively, “They will sting you.” Let’s clear up the first response: honeybees do not make honey for us.  The honey they produce is for the colony’s own survival.

LEDGER – Mitchell High School senior Kade Hoilman will continue his track and field career at Milligan College after he graduates in May.  Hoilman made his decision official by signing a letter of intent Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the Mitchell High School gymnasium in front of his coaches and family.

The Rotary Club of Spruce Pine Spruce Pine hosted the “Seniors of the Month” from Mayland Early College High School Thursday, Jan. 23, during its regular meeting at Spruce Pine First Presbyterian Church.

Seth McKinney memorial being installed at Parkway Fire & Rescue

SPRUCE PINE – The memory of the late Seth McKinney will forever live on in Mitchell County. McKinney, a Mitchell County boy who died at age 15 in October 2018, will have his own memorial plaque near the permanent flagpole set to be erected at Parkway Fire and Rescue in Grassy Creek.
