BOE chooses chair, vice chair

LEDGER – The newly appointed Chair and Vice Chair of the Mitchell County Board of Education officially began their terms Tuesday, Dec. 17, during the board’s regular meeting.  Brandon Pitman was re-appointed as Chair and Kathy Young was appointed as Vice Chair.

Board of Education sets 2019-20 budget

LEDGER – The Mitchell County Schools budget for fiscal year 2019-20 is finally set.  Mitchell County Schools Finance Manager Danny Young presented the budget Tuesday, Dec. 17, during the regular meeting of the Mitchell County Board of Education. The board unanimously approved the budget.

Lowery wins weight class at Smoky Mountain Grapple

ASHEVILLE – Mitchell High School senior wrestler Dylan Lowery was the champion in the 120-pound weight class at this past weekend’s Smoky Mountain Grapple in Asheville.

Cooper takes reins of girls’ soccer program

LEDGER – Andrew Cooper has been named head coach of the Mitchell High School girls’ varsity soccer team.  Cooper replaces Meredith Hoilman, who coached the team to a 3-13 record this past season.

Mini-golf course will open in spring
