BAKERSVILLE – Police have identified a man found dead the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 17, in Bakersville.
Mitchell County Sheriff Donald Street said the body of Mark Edward Street, 60, of Hillside Drive, Bakersville, was found by a passerby around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, in a ditch at the intersection of S. Mitchell Ave. and Hillside Drive.
Street’s body was sent Wednesday, Dec. 18, to Winston-Salem for an autopsy and no sign of trauma was found. The investigation is ongoing and law enforcement is awaiting results of the final autopsy report.
In addition to the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, Bakersville Police Chief James Ramsey and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation worked the scene.
