BOE chooses chair, vice chair

LEDGER – The newly appointed Chair and Vice Chair of the Mitchell County Board of Education officially began their terms Tuesday, Dec. 17, during the board’s regular meeting. 

Brandon Pitman was re-appointed as Chair and Kathy Young was appointed as Vice Chair. 

Pitman took over the chair position in December 2018 from Angie Burleson.

Board attorney John Henning explained the naming of Chair and Vice Chair is an annual necessity for the board, adding the roles carry one-year terms. 

Henning called for nominations for Chair, and Young quickly made a motion for Pitman that was unanimously approved by the board, and board member Sam Blevins made a motion for Young as Vice Chair that was also unanimously approved by the board.
