The Andrews High football team took an early lead and finished strong in a 44-27 win at Mitchell High on Friday, Sept. 9. Andrews (4-0) jumped out to an early 14-0 lead with a 44-yard punt return by Isaac Weaver and a passing connection between Donovan Bateman and Weaver minutes later.

Mitchell High’s football dominance over cross-county rival McDowell continues. The Mitchell High varsity football team on Friday, Aug. 26 beat McDowell for a seventh straight time, handling the Titans 34-16 on the road to improve to 2-0.

The Mitchell High varsity football team started fast and never trailed in a 42-19 rout of Erwin Friday, Aug. 19 in the regular season opener. The Mountaineers (1-0) staked themselves to an early lead on the road and slowed the Erwin attack throughout the night.

Connor Warren may soon need a bigger trophy case. The rising Mitchell High junior earned another piece of hardware this past week, cruising to a title in the 18th Carolinas Golf Association Dogwood State Junior Boys’ Championship at Holly Ridge Golf Links in Archdale.
