JV FOOTBALL: Cougars defeat Mountaineers, 32-14

LEDGER – The Mitchell High School junior varsity football team fell to 1-7 on the season Thursday, Oct. 17, after a 32-14 home loss to Mountain Heritage. The loss is Mitchell’s fourth straight since Thursday, Sept. 12, when the team won 22-6 against visiting McDowell.

VARSITY FOOTBALL: Cougars extend winning streak over Mitchell

BURNSVILLE – Mitchell High School’s varsity football team suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of rival Mountain Heritage.  The Class 2A No. 7-ranked Cougars (6-1, 2-0) edged the visiting Class 1A No. 3-ranked Mountaineers 14-6 Friday, Oct. 18, in Burnsville.

SIDE VIEW: Regroup, refocus after loss

Mountain Heritage versus Mitchell was another disappointing loss for the Mountaineers. Over the past five years, the post-game storyline has been about the same.  Heritage took the fight to the Mountaineers. The Cougars won the game at the line of scrimmage. They controlled the time of possession.
