PENLAND – The Community Open House is a yearly event that opens the doors to Penland’s studios to more than 500 adults and children from Mitchell County and beyond, engaging them in free, quality hands-on studio experiences.

Independent monitor of hospital sale hosting local public meeting

SPRUCE PINE – The independent monitor chosen to oversee HCA Healthcare’s operation of the Mission Health system has scheduled informational sessions across Western North Carolina.  The Mitchell County meeting is 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Burnsville Town Center Auditorium, 6 S. Main St.

HEALTHCARE: Messino Cancer Center opens in Spruce Pine

SPRUCE PINE – A satellite office of Messino Cancer Centers is now open in Spruce Pine. The local branch is in a portion of the former Fred’s location at 11921 S. 226 Highway in Grassy Creek Shopping Center and is operated by Dr. Charles “Chuck” Bryan, M.D., and Dr. Brent Skiver, D.O.
