Hatchery Supported Trout Waters Closed to Fishing, Feb. 29 until April 4

RALEIGH – The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will close approximately 1,000 miles of Hatchery Supported Trout Waters to fishing one-half hour after sunset on Feb. 29 and reopen them at 7 a.m. on April 4.

Changing forests: What is causing so many trees to die?

I have hunted in the same hollow for the past 10 years, giving me ample time to stare at every tree within eyesight while spending hours in the stand waiting for deer. In those 10 years, I have watched the mature hemlock trees lose their scented, dark-green needles and die.
