JOHNSON CITY, TN— Ernest H. Garland, age 87, of Elizabethton, TN passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Bakersville, NC, he was the son of the late Garrett and Mary Greene Garland.

Dewey Buchanan

MORRISTOWN, TN— It is with a sad heart that we have to announce the passing of Dewey David Buchanan Jr., of Morristown, TN at 1:54 a.m. May 10th. Children Dana, Rebecca and David Buchanan survive him.

Dimple Louise Buchanan

On May 5, Dimple Louise Buchanan took her last peaceful breath and left this beautiful world. She was a strong, loving woman who touched many lives with her warm gentle soul.  She was a great wife, mother, and “mamaw” to hundreds.

Ruth Evangeline Archer, 103, passed peacefully on May 1. Pianist, vocalist, violinist, teacher,  and prolific author of letters to the editor, Ruth had a heart for justice and great empathy for the underdog.

Kynnedi, Kynnley Goforth

BURNSVILLE, N.C.—On April 23, 2021 “Heaven gained two precious angels”. Just hours after coming into the world, Kynnedi Sage and Kynnley Rae passed away peacefully in their parents’ arms and gently into the arms of Jesus.

SPRUCE PINE – Edna L. VanCise, 83, of Carters Ridge Road in Spruce Pine, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Mitchell House in Spruce Pine. Born on September 22, 1937 in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Lettie Washburn Hollifield.

Burlie Dean Myers

SPRUCE PINE, N.C.— Burlie Dean Myers, 69, of Spruce Pine, NC, went home to be with Jesus on April 23, 2021 surrounded by love and family.   Dean was born on August 2 in Union Grove, NC to Ina and Burlie Myers.

Charles Ray Greene

WICHITA, N.C.—Charles Ray Greene 88, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center surrounded by family. He was born January 19, 1933 to Charlie and Pearl (McKinney) Greene in Bakersville, North Carolina.   Ray grew up in Bakersville and attended school through the 8th grade.

SPRUCE PINE, N.C.— Betty June Davenport Sparks, age 89 of Deer Park Lake Rd, Spruce Pine, NC went home to be with the Lord April 21, 2021. She was a native of Avery County, NC and a daughter of the late Orion Lynn and Lockie Viola Wiseman Davenport.

SPRUCE PINE, N.C.— Dean Pitman, age 76, of Frontier Pine Lane in Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville. Born on October 20, 1944 in Caldwell County, he was the son of the late Avery and Willie McKinney Pitman.
