Roan Mountain Pharmacy opens Bakersville location

BAKERSVILLE — A new pharmacy has arrived in Bakersville.  Roan Mountain Pharmacy, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee, has opened a second location at 604 Highway 226 South in Bakersville, next to Mammie’s Kitchen.
“I think we have a lot to be proud of in this little town of ours,” said Sharon Runion Rowland, a primary organizer of Christmas 'Neath the Roan.

Christmas ‘Neath the Roan events deemed successful

BAKERSVILLE – Although it was a different holiday season, Christmas ‘Neath the Roan was ultimately called a success at the Bakersville Town Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 29.

Beam tabbed as Bakersville Clerk

BAKERSVILLE – The Town of Bakersville has a new town clerk.  Mitchell County native Kelli Beam started in the position Monday, Jan. 4. Beam replaces Abby Garland, who was sworn into office in July of last year. At the Bakersville Town Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec.

Youth events, Christmas lights proving popular in Bakersville

BAKERSVILLE — Saturday, Dec. 5 was Youth Day in Bakersville and the Christmas ‘Neath the Roan planning committee designed two unique events.

Bakersville Christmas Parade canceled

The Town of Bakersville will not have its annual Christmas Parade this year.  The parade, which is usually held during the first weekend of December, was canceled by the town council at its regular meeting on Oct. 26.

Locals enjoy first Mountaineer Festival

People packed the streets of downtown Bakersville and the Creekwalk on Saturday, Oct. 3 for the first North Carolina Mountaineer Festival.

Bakersville Town Hall to be named after longtime mayor

BAKERSVILLE — Bakersville Mayor Charles Vines will soon have his name on a building. At its regular meeting on Aug. 24, the Bakersville Town Council unanimously approved a motion to name the Bakersville Town Hall after the long-tenured mayor.

Annual Apple Butter Festival canceled

BAKERSVILLE — The 2020 Mitchell County Historical Society Apple Butter Festival originally scheduled for Oct. 17 in Bakersville has been canceled.  The Mitchell County Historical Society said in a Facebook post that the decision was made with safety in mind.

BAKERSVILLE — The Town of Bakersville has a new town clerk, finance officer and tax collector.  Mitchell County native Abby Garland was sworn into office to serve all three positions on Tuesday, July 28.
