Fred Rogers, the man known to generations as Mr. Rogers of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, famously said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” Who are the helpers in our community?

Thomas Grocery is a step back in time

Stopping at Thomas Grocery in Glen Ayre is like stepping back in time. In one form or another, it has been serving the community since 1929. It is a time capsule of sorts.  Shelving on the walls goes back to the original store.

Mitchell Transportation rakes in more state honors

Miss Emerald Ridge delegates head to state level

The Miss Emerald Ridge Scholarship Program will send three delegates to compete in the Miss North Carolina and North Carolina’s Teen competition in High Point June 21-24 with three local young ladies accompanying them to participate in the Carolina Princess mentoring program.
