County holds Sept. 11 remembrance parade, ceremony

Local emergency responders on Monday, Sept. 11 remembered the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 through a special ceremony that started at the Mitchell County Courthouse with a word of prayer.

Next BBQ Festival is set for Oct. 7

The 12th Spruce Pine BBQ & Bluegrass Festival is right around the corner— it’s set for Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Riverside Park in Spruce Pine.  Adults get in for $5 each and kids 12 and under are free.  Tickets can be purchased at the festival.
