Mayland tabs Parker as next associate dean of Career Technologies

Mayland Community College’s Tony Parker has been promoted to associate dean of Career Technologies.

Parker, a Mitchell County native, is a Mayland alum. His journey, from obtaining an associate’s degree at Mayland to becoming associate dean of Career Technologies, stands as an example of local talent rising to leadership positions at the college.

“As a Mayland alum, I am honored and excited to be serving students from our local communities,” Parker said. “I’ve always been committed to fostering academic growth and career readiness. I look forward to contributing even more in my new role.”

Parker, who joined Mayland in 2016 as an information technology instructor, has been instrumental in impacting student lives. His mentorship and hands-on approach to instruction have prepared numerous students for rewarding careers in the technology sector.

“Tony is a shining example of the kind of leaders we strive to cultivate here at Mayland,” said Rita Earley, vice president of instruction at Mayland. “His dedication to our students and his commitment to educational excellence make him an ideal choice for this important position.”

Parker’s academic achievements include a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Technology from East Carolina University and a master of science degree in Network Technology, also from East Carolina. Most recently, he served as program coordinator for Electronics Engineering and Computer Engineering at Mayland.

As the associate dean of Career Technologies, Parker will be responsible for steering the division toward innovation, while maintaining a focus on student success.
