The last day to register to vote for the Nov. 7 municipal elections in Bakersville and Spruce Pine is Oct. 13.

Voters must live in one of the municipalities to vote in this election.

“For the first time since March 2016, photo IDs will be required in order to vote,” said Roycene Jones, Board of Elections director. “Be prepared to present a photo ID. If you don’t have a photo ID contact us at the Board of Elections, 688-3101, to find out how to get one. Or just come by and ask.”

Bakersville residents will vote at the Bakersville Fire Department at 306 Bakers Lane. Spruce Pine residents will vote at the Spruce Pine Fire Department at 100 Fire Fighter Way. The polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.

Sample ballots will be available online at mitchellcountync.gov/departments/elections-board/ or at the Board of Elections office at 11 N. Mitchell Ave., Room 108.

“Please be kind and courteous to election officials, volunteers and other voters,” Jones added.

If a voter is unsure if they live in the municipality, contact the Mitchell County Board of Elections or try the Voter Search Tool at vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/
