SPRUCE PINE – The Fund for Mitchell County awarded eight grants totaling $25,970 to Mitchell County nonprofits in its recent grant cycle. The Fund for Mitchell County, in partnership with CFWNC, has awarded 96 grants totaling more than $726,519.

School district victim of cyberattack

LEDGER – Mitchell County Public Schools learned Friday, March 27, it was the subject of a ransomware cyberattack. The school district’s technology team immediately started assessing damages and executing safeguards to contain the attack and prevent further incidents.
