Ruby Burleson Ledford went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Thursday, April 2, 2020. She was the daughter of Aught and Carrie Buchanan Burleson. She was born Aug. 13, 1922, and was a native and lifelong resident of Glen Ayre.
Ruby was married to her childhood friend, the late Charlie Ledford, for 56 years and is remembered for her Christian devotion to her family of 10 children, 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Surviving children are Janice Street, (Marshall deceased), Janie Cook (Tom), Judy Street (Henry), Clinton Ledford (Sherry), Clifford Ledford (Kim) and Clement Ledford, all of Bakersville, and Joyce Clark (Robert) of Charlotte, Charles Coy Ledford (Carole), of Johnson City, Tennessee, June Collier (deceased) and Jackie Street (deceased). Grandchildren include Marsha, Milan, Matthew, Ruby, Joslyen, Jeremy, Janessa (deceased) Billy, Bradly, Cara, Allen, David, Dawn, Henry Jr. (deceased), Logan, Micheal, Shawna, Ethan, Alissa, Tracy and a special granddaughter like a daughter, Lisa.
The family is grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at the Brian Center and Hospice of the Blue Ridge.
Private graveside services were Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the William Anderson Burleson Cemetery. The family will have a celebration-of-life service at a later date.
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville is assisting the Ledford family.
