GRASSY CREEK – Claudia y Los 4 Mariachis is getting a new home. The Mexican restaurant is moving to 12145 Highway 226, the former location of Boonie’s Pizza Company, in the Spruce Pine Commons Shopping Center.
According to Owner Claudia Pile, they are moving the restaurant to be closer to town and to have a bigger space.
“It’s definitely more spacious, which is better for us to open up more items on the menu,” she said. “We also get really busy at the other restaurant because the occupancy is so low and with the coronavirus, we can’t have that many people in there.”
The restaurant, formerly Claudia’s Authentic Mexican Food, has seen quick growth in the community.
“We started five years ago with the food truck with only $700 for supplies and equipment,” Pile said. “We quickly went from just Saturdays and Sundays, to seven days a week, to our restaurant space almost three years ago.”
Pile credits a lot of the success of her restaurant to the community.
“We just listened to the customers about their ideas, what they wanted and didn’t want and that’s how we got here,” she said. “We definitely feel supported by the community.”
