BAKERSVILLE — Mitchell High School graduate Zebulon McKinney is among the new cadets to join the Corps of Cadets at the University of North Georgia following his successful completion of Freshman Recruit Orientation Group (FROG) Week.
FROG Week, which is led by cadets with supervision of the commandant staff, helps transition the incoming cadets to the military lifestyle of the Corps.
UNG Frog Week featured roughly 180 freshmen during the training event which ran from Aug. 6-15.
UNG is utilizing social distancing, masks and other COVID-19 guidelines to keep cadets safe.
“FROG Week looked a little different this year because we’re following the COVID-19 guidelinenes to keep every cadet healthy and safe,” said retired Col. Joseph Matthews, UNG Commandant of Cadets. “What has not changed is that we’re still training the next generation of Army leaders.”
