BAKERSVILLE – Do you love football? Do you sit watching football on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons wishing to have again a chance to play the game?

Perhaps you enjoy the cold, crisp weather associated with the game of football.

If you answered yes to any of these questions, there is a solution.

Be a part of the first “Has-Been Turkey Bowl.” This event takes place at 8:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning Thursday, Nov. 28, at Bowman Middle School.

“If there are two things people in this area hold in high regard, it’s football and community,” said Brock Duncan, who helped organize the event. “This Turkey Bowl is focused around that.”

All ages are welcome to play; there is room for all. It will be a flag-football contest, so there will be no contact, and there is no admission fee.

There will be two games going at a time on both halves of the field to keep everyone playing and involved.

“We are hoping to see many faces there, so bring the family, invite a friend and come work up an appetite before your thanksgiving feast,” according to a press release.

Although all are welcome, current high school athletes are urged not to participate due to potential injury.

All rules and questions will be answered and explained before the start of the games.
