SPRUCE PINE – The excitement is building around the Mountain Christmas Trail of Lights and all of the holiday events being planned in Mitchell County.
A new website for the Trail has officially launched and features a map of the Trail of Lights, a holiday calendar of events, a page featuring church Christmas events as well as local Christmas tree farms.
“Since we announced the project less than a month ago, the excitement has been building,” said Patti Jensen, Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce executive director. “We have begun to hear from local businesses and homeowners who want to participate in the Trail as well as from our towns who are announcing new holiday events and adding to their traditional events as well.”
The new website is www.amountainchristmastrailoflights.com, and the Chamber invites everyone to visit the site and use it as a tool to plan their holidays in Mitchell County as well as share with their family and friends through social media.
“Any business or homeowner that would like to be added to the trail can contact us through the ‘Contact Us’ tab on the website or call us at 828-765-9033,” Jensen said. “In addition, any churches that would like to share their Christmas events with us can contact us with their details, and we will add them to the calendar and the Church Christmas page on the website.”
The official kickoff for the Trail of Lights and the Holidays in Mitchell County is Saturday, Nov. 30, with events and activities taking place in both Spruce Pine and Bakersville. The online calendar will be continually updated with new Trail of lights locations and holiday events. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the Trail of Lights this year and are reminded there is a cash prize for the best light display.
