BAKERSVILLE — The Mitchell County Board of Commissioners will hold three budget workshops on April 27, 28 and 29 to finalize the county’s budget for the next fiscal year.

The board discussed the setting of dates for the workshops during its regular meeting on Monday, April 5.

Each meeting will be three hours with the third likely being the longest as the board makes final decisions and rounds out the budget.

During the first meeting, Finance Officer Mavis Parsley and County Manager Tim Greene will present the budget and during the second meeting, outside agencies like Mayland Community College, Toe River Health District and Mitchell County Schools will attend to present their budget needs and requests.

The workshops are tentatively set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each of the three days but Board Chair Matthew “Vern” Grindstaff suggested making the second meeting time flexible in case the outside agencies have a scheduling conflict and would prefer to meet earlier in the day.
