Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination.
This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
More than 40 Mitchell County students aged 8-18 have been hard at work the past three months to put together the production, which has been specially adapted for young actors and is approximately 90 minutes long, including the 15-minute intermission.
Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR. is a joyous girl-power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
Director, Chelsea Wilson Thayer, comments, “We are excited to bring a big, county-wide musical back to the stage after two years,” said director Chelsea Wilson Thayer. “This cast is full of talent, strong work ethic and dedication that is required to bring a successful production to the community. I couldn’t be more proud.”
