The Mitchell Mountaineer Boys’ Varsity team is in the midst of a major winning streak, having won their last 7 in a row and 9 of their last 10. This past week, the Mountaineers defeated Draughn 72-69, Avery County 60-51, and NCSSM: Morganton 72-48. During this span, Mitchell has outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points a game. Next up for the Mountaineers is a rematch against the team that has handed them their only loss this year, the Mountain Heritage Cougars.
On the Lady Mountaineer side of things, the Mitchell Girls’ team had their 4-game winning streak broken by a 60-45 loss to Avery County but rebounded immediately with a 71-3 destruction of NCSSM: Morganton on Friday night. The Lady Mountaineers (10-10) have an uphill battle for them on Tuesday as they face the 18-2 Mountain Heritage Lady Cougars.
