The Mitchell High School golf team won the NCHSAA Men's Golf 2A West Region recently at Grassy Creek Golf and Country Club and secured their spot in the state championship at Gates Four Golf Club in Fayetteville. The win was lead by senior Bryce Miller who carded a 77 and won individualhonorsasregional champion. Hank Johnson, from Avery High, shot a 78 to place as a close runner-up.
Christ the King from Huntersville finished second and also got a chance to go to Fayetteville. Regionals featured 48 golfers and only the top two teams and top six individuals outside of those teams made the cut to advance to the state championship.
The Mountaineers golf team members include Bryce Miller, Peyton Pitman, Ty Pitman, Jax Burleson, Eli Snyder, Asa Peterson, Jonah Cook, Mason Nutter and Garren Burleson. They are coached by Mitchell Warren and Ty Pitman.
