A strong contingent of wrestlers from Mitchell County participated in the Carolina Beach Wrestling Nationals and World Team Qualifier, achieving impressive results. The Western Carolina Wrestling Club (WCW) secured a team runner-up finish, with Carolina Elite of Jacksonville taking the top honors.
WCW showcased their talent with four individual champions, three runner-up finishes, and several third-place showings. Jayko Erwin continued his successful spring by adding another title to his resume, alongside Bryson McFalls, Camron Cook, and JayceeMae Erwin, who also claimed first-place finishes.
Noah Burke, Joslynn Cook, and Clayton Geouge earned runner-up spots in their respective categories, while Madison Morales, Jaysin Erwin, and Zion Stewart all secured third-place finishes.
In addition to the regular age group brackets, athletes had the opportunity to compete in the U17, U20, and Senior World Team Tournament.
This event offered a chance to earn slots on the 2024 US World Team, which will compete at the World Championships in Katerini, Greece, on September 21-22.
Rising seniors Madison Morales and Joslynn Cook both earned the opportunity to represent Team USA by finishing third in their qualifying tournaments.
