The Mitchell Mountaineer volleyball team has had a rough season due to injuries and sickness. On Tuesday, Oct. 17, the Lady Mountaineers ended their season 2-18 overall. While it wasn’t the outcome they hoped for, it is the harsh reality that the seniors will remember.
Players such as freshman Addison Gregory, sophomore Piper Cook, and junior Grace Willis will have a great opportunity to make something great next season.
The team for the 2023 season were very young and have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season. As the seniors reminisce on their four years as a Lady Mountaineer volleyball players, it is hard to acknowledge it is all over.
“It has been the best season of high school volleyball I have ever been a part of,” said senior Charley Ambrose. “This team isn’t just a team, it’s like we’re a family, and Coach Carver is our mom. It is sad that it is over, but I am glad to say I got to play with this group of girls.”
The outcome of the season doesn’t reflect the work that has been put in from all the players and coaching staff through the off season into the regular season.
From last year to this year, there have already been some improvements. Last season the Lady Mountaineers finished their season with only one win.
The volleyball program at Mitchell High School is growing and will continue to in the future.
