Both Mitchell High School junior varsity basketball teams won the Western Highlands Conference Tournament this past week. The boys knocked off Mountain Heritage in the title game and the girls knocked off host Madison in the final game.

Both varsity teams won their first-round conference tournament games before falling to Heritage in the second round.

The varsity boys (12-9 overall, 9-3 in conference play) played a state playoff game on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Christ the King (14-12). The varsity girls (13-10, 6-6) opened the state playoffs Feb. 22 by hosting East Wilkes (19-8). The girls beat East Wilkes and advance to play at top-seeded Murphy in the second round. The boys fell to Christ the King.

The accolades kept coming for Mitchell basketball even after the final buzzer as Chandra Jenkins was named to the All-WHC Tournament Team.
