BAKERSVILLE, N.C. —Tina Hopson Peterson, age 56, of the Fork Mountain Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 11th, 2021, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Unicoi, TN, she was a daughter of Brenda Mathis Hopson and the late Carl Hopson. Tina worked for the Mitchell County School Bus Garage for 10 years. She enjoyed traveling, salmon fishing and going to the beach. She loved her family and her grandchildren dearly.
Surviving in addition to her mother, Brenda, is her loving husband of 36 years, Michael Peterson; sons: Daniel Peterson and wife, Faith, and David Peterson all of Bakersville; grandchildren: Easton and Eliza; sisters: Shelly Gouge and husband, Joe, of Happy Valley, TN and Stephanie Edwards of Erwin, TN; brother, Carlos Hopson of Hampton, TN; sister-in-law, Anita Peterson of Spruce Pine and a brother-in-law, Darius Peterson and wife, Wilma, of Fork Mountain. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 16th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Blaine Whitson will officiate. Private burial will be held in the Peterson Cemetery.
