GREEN MOUNTAIN, N.C.— Oliver Stuart Buchanan, age 85, passed away at his home on Oct.13, 2021. He was born to the late Stokes and Pearl Silver Buchanan, on July 24, 1936, in Mitchell County, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, Stuart was preceded in death by two grandsons, Garrett Presnell and Levi Maltba.

Stuart was a US Air Force Veteran and a Free Mason. He was a member of Pleasant Gap Baptist Church. He had formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon. He was most proud of his family. Stuart was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and an avid outdoorsman, who also loved Blue Grass Gospel music.

Stuart is survived by his wife, Eileen Hall Buchanan; three children, Daniel Buchanan, Sherie B. Presnell and Lorie McKinney (Alan); one sister, Alberta Wing; ten grandchildren, Erika Buchanan, Ethan McKinney (Kalina), Emily Buchanan, Corey Presnell (Lacey), Doug Cooksie (Lirije), Caleb McKinney (Taylor), Rachel Barkley (Nate), Shana Hollifield (Chris), Cade Buchanan and Kelsey Presnell; five great grandchildren, Braxton Carswell, Vada McKinney, Carly Presnell, Matthew Hollifield and Kora Presnell along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at 2 p.m., at Joseph Riley Hall Cemetery, with the Rev. Jimmy Upton officiating.
