MARION, N.C. — Mrs. Marine “Rene” Bell, age 91, of Marion, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022, at the Solace Center in Asheville. Rene was one of eleven children, born in Mitchell County on August 16, 1930, to the late Milton and Minnie Murphy Boone.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion, was a part of the First United Methodist Women and the United Methodist Family Ministry. Throughout Rene’s life, she served as a PTA President, cub scout den mother and as a booster for McDowell High School athletics and band.
Rene also supported her husband Dr. William Bell during his career and worked as a bookkeeper and office assistant for the Blue Ridge Chiropractic Clinic.
Rene never neglected the needs of her family, especially her children and grandchildren who were most dear to her.
The family is grateful to have a mother that was willing to sacrifice, give and who was selfless.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Dr. William Lee Bell
Those left behind to cherish Marine’s memory are her two sons, Dr. Bill Bell (Susan) of Nebo and Todd Bell (Amy) of Morganton; three sisters, Kate Wilson, of Mocksville, Flo Phillips (Larry) of Chapel Hill, and Loretta McKinney of Asheville; Four grandchildren, Daniel Bell (Alexis), Sarah Layne (Matt), Chandler, and Olivia Bell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Marion with Rev. Jim Hunter officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
