Liz Brown

CROSSNORE, N.C. — The family of Liz Brown bid her a tear-filled bon voyage with prayers for a perfect landing in the ether, supported by the loved ones preceding her. Liz took flight early Wednesday morning in the arms of her loving husband Bill, daughter Whitney, and son Gamble.

Liz was an active and loving member of her community always.  To her credit, Liz was the emergency registrar at Sloop Hospital, Director of the Avery Arts Council (12 years), Gallery Manager of The Arts Cellar in Banner Elk (15 years), and ultimately established and managed, next to husband Bill, the Anvil Arts Sculpture Garden and Art Gallery in Linville Falls, representing Bill’s work, as well as many other sculptors. Liz’s dedication to the Arts and her support of the artist community was profound.  Liz selflessly and tirelessly was the strength behind many artists.

When Liz’s 3 yr old grandson was asked his favorite thing about her, he responded simply “her love”. It was her constant smile that regularly reminded all she knew of the same.

Her family and friends wish her eternal walks in the woods, with a dog by her side.

Liz leaves behind husband Bill, daughter Whitney (Hillsborough, NC), son Gamble (Crossnore, NC), son-in-law Jordan Groseclose, grandson Emerson Groseclose and granddaughter Iris Groseclose, Mother Camilla Bailey (Niantic, CT) and sister Jeanne McArdle (Uncasville CT), brothers Peter Tannenbaum (Spartanburg, SC) and Scot Tannenbaum (Hickory, NC), and of course, Bernie the dog who will miss her profoundly.
