SPRUCE PINE, N.C.— Jean B. Johnson, age 81, of Pine Branch, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, November 30th, 2020 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.  A native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Plumber and Ruth Sparks Blevins.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Nils Johnson who passed away in 1998; brothers: Paul Fortner (Mary) and Bruce Blevins (Margaret) and a brother-in-law, Gordon Huskins.  Jean was a devoted member of Pine Branch Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Director and Youth Choir Director.  She adored her church and her church family. She enjoyed volunteering at the nursing homes and singing. Now her and Nils are singing today in Heaven.

Surviving is her daughters: Nila Miller and husband, Steve, of Spruce Pine and Gina Miller and husband, Mark, of Candler; grandchildren: Cayela Peterson (Zach), Carein Miller and fiancé, Jamison Burleson, Emily Miller, Gabe Miller and Colton Miller; great-grandson, Tobias Peterson and a sister, Barbara Huskins of Spruce Pine.  Several other extended family members also survive. 

Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2nd in Pine Branch Baptist Church.  Rev. Steve Williams will officiate.  Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
