SPRUCE PINE, N.C.— Irene Buchanan, age 91, of Reservoir Road in Spruce Pine, went to be with the Lord at 7:47 pm on Friday, November 20, 2020 after a short illness.
Born on November 23, 1928 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Manley and Trula Gillespie Hoyle. In addi-tion to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her hus-band, Hubert Buchanan who passed away in 2008. Also pre-ceding her in death were her daughters; Karen Ledford and Kimberly Hoyle, her brothers; Coy Albert Hoyle, Henry Hoyle, and Weldon Hoyle; and her sis-ter; Pauline Buchanan.
Irene was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and was retired following twenty-five years of service with Baxter Healthcare. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them and she also loved going to church and being with her friends. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and working in her flowers and she always stayed busy.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Janice Huskins of Spruce Pine, Joretta Thomas and husband, Jerald of Newland, and Sharon Silvers of Burnsville; her sons; Gary and Michael Hoyle both of Spruce Pine; her sister; Barbara Jean Autrey of Spruce Pine; there are eight grandchildren and seven-teen great grandchildren.
Friends that wish may come by Webb Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 1 pm until 2:30 pm to view and sign the guest register book. Graveside services and interment will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ricky Ray officiating.
