BAKERSVILLE, N.C.— Florence M. Woody age 87, of Woody Court, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord September 15, 2021. Born in Ashe County, NC she was the daughter of the late Lee and Florence Duncan McKinney. She was retired from The North Carolina Agricultural Extension Office in Mitchell County. Florence was a member of Roan Mountain Baptist Church and enjoyed decorating and spending time with her family.
Survivors include: her son; Kenneth Woody (Joyce), of Bakersville, NC, one brother; Bruce McKinney (Shirley), of Spruce Pine, NC, half-sisters; Loraine Campbell and Irene Poteat, two grandchildren; Adam Woody (Becky), and Amy Young (Brannon), three great-grandchildren; Evan Briggs, Ayden and Mayce Woody, and her special friend and caregiver; Regina Grindstaff.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Ted Woody and a great-granddaughter, Maggie Rae Young.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 4:00PM in Roan Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Russell McKinney and Reverend Don Stafford officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Cane Creek Cemetery #1.
