Journey to the manger opens this weekend at Bakersville Creek Walk

The Bakersville Creek Walk will be ablaze with the retelling of the Biblical account of stories leading to the birth of baby Jesus in a stable on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 10. The journey begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. nightly.

YMCA breaks new ground in Spruce Pine

Local, state and regional supporters  and funders of the new YMCA slated for Mitchell County were on hand Nov. 3 for the ground breaking ceremony. In 2019, AMY Wellness Foundation (AMYWF) made a commitment to aid in the expansion of the Williams YMCA of Avery County into Mitchell County.
