New Mexican restaurant coming soon to former Bojangles building

SPRUCE PINE — A new Mexican restaurant will soon make its way to Mitchell County.

Puerto Nuevo Mexican and Seafood Restaurant is coming to the building that used to house Bojangles near Walmart directly off U.S. Highway 226 South.

Building owner Ed Busch and Tina Whtie of Re/Max Executive Realty helped negotiate the lease terms.

Under the terms of the lease that begins on Oct. 15, the restaurant owners will have several months to renovate and prepare the building before opening the doors.

The owners are expected to announce a grand opening date at a later time.

Mitchell County Economic Development Commission Director Mickey Duvall said he is glad to see a new business utilize the building, which has sat vacant for several years.

The Bojangles lease on the building expired in August 2019, Duvall said.

“We’re very pleased to see a business move into the building,” Duvall said.
