Piedmont Natural Gas is conducting routine infrastructure maintenance near 2490 US-19E in Spruce Pine. The scheduled work will take place on three separate occasions in May and June, weather permitting.
Upcoming maintenance dates include: June 4–12 (weekdays only) and June 20-27.
The operations will involve the use of a flare stack, which is a large vertical pipe. The tall flame is visible to nearby neighborhoods and businesses. Residents and businesses in the area may also notice a whistling sound or the smell of natural gas.
