Open for business

chell County have found a successful year-round plan for operating, some business operate in a seasonal mode.  With Easter coming early this year and spring ushering in warmer weather and longer days, Mitchell County welcomes the seasonal reopening of local establishments.

 

Seasonal re-openings

Pelican’s Snoballs kicked off the season with its opening on March 16, bringing back its array of colorful and refreshing snow cones to the delight of residents and visitors alike.

Switzerland Cafe and General Store is set to open its doors on March 28, inviting patrons to enjoy its cozy ambiance and unique offerings that make it a favorite pit-stop in the area.

Switzerland Inn & Chalet Restaurant will welcome guests starting April 17, offering stunning views and delectable dining options that encapsulate the essence of spring.

The Tropical Grill made an early debut on March 1, serving up vibrant and flavorful dishes that have already become a hit this season.

Skyline Village Inn Restaurant and Bar is poised to open soon, promising exceptional cuisine and breathtaking vistas, though an exact date is yet to be announced.

 

Business expansions

Beyond seasonal re-openings, notable expansions are enhancing the local landscape.

DT’s Blue Ridge Java has completed a significant dining room expansion, providing more space for customers to enjoy their favorite coffee and meals in a comfortable setting.

Poppy’s Wildcraft has recently unveiled renovations that expand into the upper level. This upgrade introduces a large book section and reading area, making it an ideal spot for book lovers and those seeking a cozy nook to unwind. Completed just last week after starting renovations in October, the expanded space now features free WiFi, a phone charging station, a public restroom, and a new game section.

Fridays at Poppy’s Wildcraft are particularly special, with “Free Coffee Friday” inviting patrons to sample various coffee blends, complemented by pastries. Moreover, the establishment is exploring a book trade program, allowing customers to trade in used books for credit, featuring works by Allen Cook, Mitchell County’s manager.

Owner Kimberly Hageman expressed her enthusiasm for the expansion, stating, “We hope that people will come and find pleasure in discovering a book. A book gives you an opportunity to discover a new world. You never know where that book is going to take you.”
