The Dawg House, a new hot dog restaurant in Spruce Pine, has officially opened its doors.

Owners Linda Harmon and Eric Roberts have worked together to establish a family-friendly restaurant with a simple, classic menu that features hot dogs, bratwursts, Polish sausage, plant-based veggie dogs, fries and other quick bites.

“It’s a favorite pastime and brings kids together with families,” Roberts said about hotdogs. “It’s simple, fast and easy. You could have it in a million different ways.”

Harmon and Roberts plan to work in the coming days with the community to give back and get the word out about their new eatery.

“We hope to bring the community together,” Roberts said. “We are partnering with the animal shelter to participate in food drives.”

The Dawg House allows service dogs and has dog treats to welcome furry guests.

Located just past Walmart at 14480 Highway 226 S. in Spruce Pine, The Dawg House also working closely with its neighbor, Vic’s Place, which is within walking distance. After mini golfers enjoy a round at Vic’s Place, they are encouraged to head to the Dawg House to rest and have a hot dog.

“It’s better to work together than against each other,” Roberts said.

Combos, which include a hot dog, side and drink, are $10. Treats, including mozzarella sticks, corn nuggets and fried mushrooms are $5 and kid’s meals are $5.

Guests can also top their hot dogs with traditional toppings like chili, spicy mustard, relish, onions and more.

The Dawg House is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The restaurant has a Facebook page and takeout orders can be placed by calling 765-290-6632.

“For right now, our goal is to have a full house,” Roberts said. “Our plan is to have this location close to the Blue Ridge [Parkway] and have another location in town. We have the locals and tourists, so we can have the best of both worlds.”
