In its recent grant cycle, The Fund for Mitchell County, in partnership with The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC), awarded $30,930 across ten grants to various nonprofits serving the local community. To date, the Fund has provided $860,039 to bolster Mitchell County’s nonprofit sector.
The grants support a range of services including youth mentoring, telehealth medical access, cancer care for children, food for low-income pet owners, and resources for domestic violence survivors. Significant contributions include $5,000 to Mitchell County Shepherd’s Staff for pantry upgrades and $4,000 each to Pisgah Legal Services and Center for Rural Health Innovation.
Established in 1999 by local residents, The Fund for Mitchell County aims to meet ongoing local needs through a permanent charitable endowment.
