Convenience Center reopens after cleanup period

The Altapass Convenience Center of Spruce Pine is back open to accept household garbage after a fire broke out in the cardboard bundling area late Monday, Aug. 21.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. Firefighters from Parkway Fire and Rescue, Spruce Pine Fire Department, Bakersville Fire Department and Green Valley Fire Department contained the blaze in about an hour.
Convenience Center's normal operating hours are Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday and Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
