Commissioners address sundown law allegation

BAKERSVILLE — The Mitchell County Board of Commissioners denounced racism and other forms of discrimination while addressing an allegation of a possible racist policy at their regular session on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

DAWN OF A NEW ERA: New commissioners sworn in, approve changes in first meeting

The Mitchell County Board of Commissioners meeting looked a bit different on Monday, Dec. 7, in more ways than one.  Two new commissioners, Harley Masters and Brandon Pittman, were sworn in earlier that morning along with re-elected Commissioner Jeff Harding.

Masters makes history behind strong support

BAKERSVILLE — After newly-elected Mitchell County Commissioner Harley Masters made history on the night of Tuesday, Nov. 3, her instant reaction was that of surprise. Masters finished as the top vote-getter of the four candidates vying for three seats on the Mitchell County Board of Commissioners.

Burleson, Willis recognized for service as commissioners

BAKERSVILLE — At the last regular session of the Mitchell County Board of Commissioners on Monday, Nov. 2, Chairman Jacob Willis and Commissioner Danny Burleson received plaques and many kind words to thank them for their service to Mitchell County.
