Muriel B. Hobson, 97, of Cook Town Road, Bakersville, went home to be with Jesus Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Hobson; daughter, Jewel Hobson; daughter-in-law, Doris Hobson; brothers, Jac and Clarence Burleson; sisters, Mae Albers, Maude Stevenson and Jean Maples; and parents, Roby and Dessie Greene Burleson.

Muriel was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She worked for Ellen Knitting Mills for 21 years and Pisgah Forest Service for 14 years. Mostly, she was a homemaker who cared for her family and was loved very much. 

She leaves behind her sons, Charles Hobson (Alane), of Bakersville, and Dean Hobson, of Nebo; a daughter, Margaret Greene (George), of Bakersville; a sister, Margaret Conover, of California; three grandchildren, Tim Hobson (Ellen), Keith Greene (Milessa), and Michelle Ferrell (Gary); and two great-granddaughters, Ashley Hobson and Haley Walker. 

A funeral service for Ms. Hobson was 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville with Mark McKinney and Wade Bowman officiating. Burial was in the Baxter Hobson Cemetery.
