Vivian Byrd, 77, of Sullins Branch Road, Spruce Pine, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at her home.

Born Sept. 23, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James and Mertie Conn Haney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Sullins; and later her second husband, Jim Byrd. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Eugene and Bobby Haney.

Vivian was a member of the Pine Branch Baptist Church and retired in March 2005 from Baxter. She was a graduate of Mayland Community College with a degree in cosmetology. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and shopping.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Pam Boston, of Spruce Pine; her sons, Bobby and Darrell Sullins, both of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren, Natasha Smith, and husband, Donald, Garry Boston, and wife, Chastity, Toby Sullins, Timmy Sullins, Matthew Sullins, Darrell Sullins and Kali Sullins; her great-grandchildren, Brianna Smith, and husband, Dillon, Brody Smith, Brinkli Smith, Jaxon Boston, Kaden Boston, Sage Sullins and Joshua Gaunt; her great-great-grandchildren, Ezekiel and Zahava Duncan; her sisters, Imogene Albert, and husband, Willard, and Mary Lou Powell; her brother, Gary Haney; and her sisters-in-law, Betty Haney, Vian Haney and Gail Haney.

A funeral service for Vivian Byrd was 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at Pine Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Joe Greene officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends was 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at the church. Interment followed in the Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
