BAKERSVILLE N.C. —Ruby Garland Birchfield, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 14th, 2020. A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Merritt and Melissa Tuskie Gardner Gar-land. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Birchfield; sisters: Anna Willis and Gerrell Clark and brothers: Marshall, Bruce, and Claude Garland and Deward Gardner.
Ruby was a member of Rock Creek Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
She loved gardening, flowers, camping, cooking and spending time with family. She will be remembered as a lov-ing wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and friend.
Surviving is her son, Wayne Birchfield and wife, Sharon, of Buladean and their daughters: Jessica Hobson and husband, Cecil, Jr. of Buladean and Megan Davis and her husband, Mark, of Burnsville; daughter, Gloria Clark and her husband, Troy, of Uni-coi, TN and their daughters:
Holly and Heather Clark of Uni-coi, TN; great-grandchildren: Sean Hobson and wife, Saman-tha, Tucker Hobson and Leanna Hobson all of Buladean; sisters: Eloise Staubitz of Bakersville and Jessie Woody of Bakersville; brother, Guy Garland of Bakers-ville and special friend and cousin, Bill Birchfield and his wife, Carolyn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were held at 1 P.M. on Friday, September, 18th at Rock Creek Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. G.B. Garland will officiate. Burial will follow in the Garland Cemetery in Buladean. The family received friends from 12 noon until 1 P.M. prior to the services at the church.
