BURNSVILLE NC—Larry Keith Hollifield, age 70, of the Shoal Creek Community, passed away on Tuesday, October 13th, at Mission Hospital. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Fred and Jennie Ellis Hollifield. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, AJ Hollifield and a sister, Judy Cannon. Keith was a carpenter who enjoyed his work and being outdoors. He loved watching the birds, his cat and antiquing with Laura Gail.
Surviving is his loving wife of 39 years, Laura Gail Hughes Hollifield; daughter, Stephanie Wiseman and husband, Eric, of Spruce Pine; son, Jesse Hollifield of Burnsville; grandchildren: Marti Hughes (Kyle), Ashley Edmonds (Darren), Samantha Gilley (Billy) and Jacque Shehan (Kyle); great-grandchildren: Serenity, Anthony, Felix, Asher, Spencer, Tanner, Colt, Kimber, Brayden and Bryson and brothers: Bobby Hollifield and wife, Glenda, and Freddie Hollifield and wife, Kaye, all of Spruce Pine. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 18th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Steve Williams and Rev. Randall Robinson will be officiating with closing prayer by Rev. Bobby Joe Greene. The family received friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held in the Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.
