NOLENSVILLE, TN — Faye Gibbs Greer of Nolensville, Tennessee, died on June 14, 2022, at the age of 92. She was born on September 1, 1929, at the English Inn in Spruce Pine to Harris and Pearl Gibbs. She was raised in the South Toe Community of Yancey County and lived much of her adult life in Spruce Pine. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Ray Gibbs; brother, C.A. Gibbs; sisters, Brenda Young and Jeanette Langford; and her beloved husband, Cecil Greer, who passed away in 1991.
While living in Spruce Pine, Faye was a member of Grassy Creek Presbyterian Church. She took business courses at Crossnore School and was employed by the Spruce Pine School System, WAMY Community Action, and Sloop Memorial Hospital. She was also a bookkeeper who did taxes for many people in the area. She enjoyed playing card games and Yahtzee; growing flowers and vegetables, especially orchids and tomatoes; and you would often find her reading a good book.She is survived by her son, Jim (Lisa) Greer of Christiana, Tennessee; granddaughters, Jennifer (Matthew) Gilley of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Julie Greer of Spruce Pine; stepgrandson, Cody (Brianna) Clark of La Vergne, Tennessee; great-grandsons, Owen and Avery Gilley; brother, Kenneth (Brenda) Gibbs of Burnsville; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held in Nashville, Tennessee, and Burnsville, North Carolina. Interment was at the Carroway Cemetery in Celo, North Carolina.
